ECHO DALE

Bask on the beach, go for a swim or a paddle, fish for trout, hike into the cliffs or picnic under the trees in this 40 acre oasis. Echo Dale features two beautiful man made lakes in a peaceful river valley setting and 7 km or paved or shale walking trails. Echo Dale Farm takes you back to explore Woolfrey House, a fully restored 1880's homestead complete with barn and petting zoo. Located 8 km west of Medicine Hat, just off of Highway #3.

FAMILY LEISURE CENTRE

The Leisure Center offers water, ice and sun. At the Kinsmen Aquatic Park the prairie oasis setting invites you to spend the day cooling off in the wave/leisure pool splashing down the Rip N Rattler waterslide and finishing with a relaxing moment spent in the whirlpool or steam room. For the Tot's Bubble pool to 50m pools, there is water enough for everyone. The AEC Olympic size ice surface encourages residents to lace up those skates. Outside ball diamonds, soccer pitches and premier laying field all off their perfect place to get in the game. Check out the BMX track too. Located at 2000 Division Ave North.

FISHING

The waters of Southern Alberta are home to various types of fish including rainbow trout, pike, walleye, gold eye and whitefish to name a few. Individuals who wish to fish must purchase an Alberta Fishing Licence and a Wildlife Identification Number Card. Licence's maybe obtained from sporting good stores, select convenience stores and gas stations.

HUNTING

Alberta's diverse landscape allows for variety of opportunities to hunt birds and big games. Licence's are sold at sporting good stores, select convenience stores and gas station. Before applying on a draw, you must have a Wildlife Identification Number. All non-residents must be accompanied by a licence's guide throughout the province of Alberta hunting. Hunting seasons depend on the species, the type of hunt and region.

There are several area golf courses to enjoy…or you can practice your golf swing year round. Experience the prairies while enjoying some of the areas finest golfing. Medicine Hat’s courses, on average, open before any course in the Province due to or mild weather. Medicine Hat offers golfers breathtaking scenery with unforgettable courses for both expert and novice players. There are five courses within the city varying in design and difficulty. Trees, rolling hills, hazards and waterways add to the challenge. Even in inclement weather, avid golfers can golf year round at Eagle Butte Target Greens.

KIN COULEE

Seven Persons Creed meanders through this beautiful multi purpose 100 acre park. Kin Coulee offers natural areas as well as recreational facilities including playgrounds, trails, ball diamonds, picnic facilities, fire pits, toboggan hill plus more. Kin Coulee is home to the Spectrum Sunshine Festival and Canada Day festivities. Entrance to the park is at the bottom of College Drive.

LIONS PARK
Enjoy a relaxing picnic under the cottonwood trees or a game of horseshoes in the lovely old-fashioned park along the South Saskatchewan Park

POLICE POINT PARK
Stroll along the nature trails among ancient cottonwood trees and watch for bald eagles or white-tailed deer in the scenic 400 acre natural reserve. Bordered on three sides by the South Saskatchewan River, this park features 8 km of walking and cycling trails included 2 km of paved, with easy access for wheelchairs. Police Point Park is an excellent area for watching birds and wildlife. Learn more about grassland flora and fauna at the Interpretive Centre on site. Open year round, the center offers many special events for the public. Police Point Park is located on the North side of the river on Police Point Drive.

RIVERSIDE PARK
In the heart of downtown, this park features a fascinating brick mural by the renowned artist James Marshall, depicting the history of the area. Flowers, walkways, CP Engine and huge old trees along the river make this a beautiful place for lunch or just to relax.

Skateboarders will enjoy the boarding park located near Kin Coulee Park at the corner of Division Ave and Kipling Street.

Outdoor Skating.

Cross-country enthusiasts will enjoy man ski trails in the Cypress Hills, Echo Dale Park or within the city at Police Point Park.

Hidden Valley Ski Area located at Cypress Hills, is a great place for downhill skiers and snowboarders of all levels.

STRATHCONA PARK
Just beneath Medicine Hat's scenic cliffs, on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River, this park is a family favorite. From a water park playground for the kids, walking and hiking trails and superb picnic facilities, there is something for everyone!
