On National Indigenous People Day, June 21, experience Medicine Hat’s Indigenous history through our local guide’s eyes. An integral part of the preservation and expression of culture in Indigenous communities that woven with social and political commentary.

What’s Included:

  • Transportation pick up & drop off from the National Indigenous Peoples Day Event. Starting location is at Kin Park.
  • Guided tour of Saamis Tepee, Saamis Archaeological Site, and what was the Métis Community in Saratoga Park
  • Time to explore the Saamis Tepee site on your own
  • Learn about the importance and preparation of bannock and other traditional food, while enjoying some.
  • Transportation is on the Medicine Hat Sunshine Trolley

This tour will end with you experiencing the National Indigenous Peoples Day Demonstration Powwow with your guides and group. Ask questions, learn about what is happening, and immerse yourself in this beautiful culture!

Gather together and share in the celebration of our Indigenous cultures.

Please Note: Starting location is Kin Park in front of Saamis Aboriginal Employment and Training Centre,  919 Tractor Ave SE, Medicine Hat

Prepare for the weather, as a large part of the tour will be outside.

There will also be an approximately one kilometre walk into the Métis Community Site in Saratoga Park.
